The 3,565,000-kilowatt Carbon 360 plant is the largest generator of electricity in the largest electricity generating system in Texas. Fort Bend Industrial Development Corporation helped NRG earn funds to begin a project designed to capture approximately 90 percent of the carbon dioxide from a 240 MW slipstream of flue gas and use or sequester 1.6 million tons of this greenhouse gas annually. The project was selected by the United States Department of Energy to receive up to $167 million as part of the Clean Coal Power Initiative Program.
